The Museum of Cultures

Castagnola

The Museum of Cultures was made possible thanks to the fact that in 1985, Serge e Graziella Brignoni (two artists connected to the Surrealistic Movement) donated their collection to the City of Lugano. The Brignoni Collection is, in its genre, one of the most important in Europe and is comprised of about 600 objects of primitive art coming from three continents: Oceania, Asia and Africa. These are all artefacts connected to religious worship and daily life. Detail

Malcantone Museum

Curio

The Malcantone Museum was built in 1989 and is located in the old Greater School of Curio, a village of the region. The building, which was built in 1855 by the architect Luigi Fontana, has been the property, for some time now, of Malcantone Turismo (the Tourist Office) with the precise objective of turning it into a regional museum.
